A Day in the Life of a Data Analyst - podcast invitation by Growth Tribe

Updated: Jul 25, 2022

I was absolutely honoured when Growth Tribe reached out to me and Amanda and we didn't hesitate too much saying yes.

We have all experienced that things you learn in school are not necessarily will be used in real life work.

The market is always looking for data unicorns. It's impossible to learn all the programming languages and have all the skills. My advice was is to listen to your heart and pick what do you really love to do. What makes you get out of bed with a smile on your face every morning. For me it's data visualization.

Working in data is super broad and vague. The more senior you become during your career the more overlapping knowledge and skill you will get with other fields like data engineering, data architecture or data analysis. It's a natural process and at the end either you become a principal developer or go on people managerial position.

I keep seeing the younger generation as anxious as I was back in the day. Which field to chose, what to study? Will it be valuable in the labor market? Shall I move to technical or more business role? And the list of questions continue. It can be overwhelming. I have restarted my career a couple of times and it was all worth it. It's OKAY to not know in the beginning of your career what you want. But it's up to you try out yourself, learn and grow personally.

Kids, don't forget to learn SQL these days! If you didn't have Statistics in higher education do grab a business statistics book it will do only good.
