Bringing Tableau Conference news to the Tableau User Group
Updated: Jul 25, 2022
In May, Leaseplan (my current employer) hosted D+W Netherlands sessions where we talked about what happened in Las Vegas - definitely didn't stay in Vegas.
Devs on stage
What we all waited for. It's always the most important session of the Tableau Conference where developers share which updates and new features are coming in the near future for us.
I gathered the updates which I found interesting andI find them game changers.
Tableau Cloud
So it looks like at Salesforce they like to rename products as what happened to Einstein Analytics. Tableau Online is the new Tableau Cloud. Tableau Cloud now supports the management of multiple Tableau sites and makes it easy to individually deploy to regions worldwide while staying centrally managed.
Data Stories
Inside any dashboard, you can create a data story simply by dragging it onto the dashboard and selecting the worksheet you want to use for data. Then watch as Tableau writes the story.
Model Builder
The only thing missing has been the ability to model your data. That changes now. Model Builder will help customers address predictive analytics, scenario planning/simulations and machine learning.
Image role
Tableau can now take image URL links stored in your data and render those images right in your visualizations. Dynamic images now are easy to create and easy to update.
Tableau Tim created a nice recap. I gotta love him! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvs3Ur40si4
